Well, have you considered that it is in the best interest of the leaders to reduce the use of Kingdom Halls. Since they are no longer needed, they can sell them for a profit, a big profit because someone else bought it and maintained it. This move may be the exit plan of thescmmers at the top. Sooner or later all pyramid scams have to end. "The time is at hand"

Israel ... Jehovah ... The Promised Land ... Genocide
by wannabefree inthis is a topic that i was always uncomfortable with, but, as a good indoctrinated jw got myself to accept the spin.
of course, now that i am out, when i speak with other "christian" friends, they make the same excuses.
god's ways are above our ways ... okay, sure ... but really???.

Perry: "On the other hand if you accept the dictionary's definition of the word God, then likewise you cannot criticize God because you acknowledge his perfection, which would include his perfect judgments, and his perfect right to display his mercies and judgments according to his purposes, not yours"
What the dictionary has to say about God are not necessarily God's qualities. He never let us know HIS qualities. Ever since we moved into a scientific age, or at least tried to replace superstition by more natural and rational explanations to phenomena, GOD no longer performs miracles, or talk to humans. Why would that be? i am sure you can come with an explanation, Christians alway have an answer for everything, and they don't seem to care how contradictory those various answers are.
GOD's "qualities" are as inconsistent as the human minds which created him.

Window washing is great as a source of income, like any other job, if you are dedicated and disciplined with your expenses. Plenty of manual laborers are great examples of "rags to riches". However, money alone may not provide the critical thinking skills to avoid being pulled into cults such as those of the JW's and mormons. Unfairly, maybe, but that is what's is implied when people refer to JW's as window washers, they are gullible. Likely, they ended up in a manual labor job because they couldn't, or didn't want to, or were not allowed to get higher education. This fact makes them easy prey of cult's leaders.
Bottom line: many cults with silly doctrines and beliefs attract manual laborers much more than they attract doctors or lawyers.

Funny way of suggesting something useful. If the moment ever comes, I will put so much pressure on my daughter and doctors that she will come out of the hospital with plenty of blood, alive and ready to be forgiven. If not forgiven, it's war against the evil organization.

Moustaches vs. beards - one of the contributing factors to losing my cognitive dissonace
by Pacopoolio inas a little background - i was born-in to being a witness, back in '79, in detroit, in mostly black and poor congregations.
baptized when 10-ish, stayed around, was on the fast track to ms, but faded when i moved out at 24ish.. there was a combination of a few things that got me on the road to "freedom" from the cognitive dissonance that kept me "in the truth" for so long.
the main thing was, being an artist and studying marketing, my thinking was patterned to constantly question if i was doing something "correctly," as constant improvement and questioning is what facilitates artistic and mental growth.

Facial hair is facial hair. The elder who gave me a study 20 years ago has the ugliest mustache I have ever seen. It looked like F. Nietzsche mustache but one third of the hair. Long, untrimmed, pointing in every direction hair. Funny thing is that certain JW sister kept giving hell to her non-JW brother for his well trimmed, cool, great loooking very thin beard. She called his beard "esa cochinada". Translation: "that dirty thing" except that in Spanish sounds even more intense. She said that she hoped one day he started a bible study so he would get rid of "esa cochinada"
Conclusion: for JW's an ugly untrimmed, disgusting mustache represents pure worship to Jehovah, while a well trimmed, good looking, thin, beard represents satanic worship. Ok, Ok a slight exageration, but the main point stands. JW's are uncapable or not free to use common sense even to judge what is an attractive use of facial hair.

Rebel8,
It's the latest version (2010) of the book of elders. I have the full book in PDF. I suspect things have changed from the days of the references to blood transfering you the personality of the donor. But mainly, I feel that the Governing Body wants to make the blood transfusions issue as unconspicuos as possible without actually changing the doctrine. The other two options are 1) to take a flagrant, but very controversial position against blood transfusions and 2) to drop the doctrine altogether, but face a bunch of civil lawsuits (maybe even criminal) from those who lost a relative for refusing a blood transfusion.

As a father of a baptized JW 17 year old girl I am concerned about her stand on blood. So I decided to do some research. I found the following in the elders' book "Sheperd the Flock of God" pages 110-112
"3. Actions that may indicate disassociation include the following:
…
• Willingly and unrepentantly taking blood. If someone willingly takes blood, perhaps because of being under extreme pressure, the committee should obtain the facts and determine the individual's attitude. If he is repentant, the committee would provide spiritual assistance in the spirit of Galatians 6:1 and Jude 22, 23. Since he is spiritually weak, he would not qualify for special privileges [no big deal (my own comment)] for a period of time, and it may be necessary to remove certain basic privileges. Depending on the circumstances, the committee may also need to arrange for an announcement to the congregation: "The elders have handled a matter having to do with [name of person]. You will be glad to know that spiritual shepherds are endeavoring to render assistance. On the other hand, if the elders on the committee determine that he is unrepentant they should announce his disassociation."
I have known of few cases of adultery in recent years among JW relatives or JW friends. Even a case of elder's wife running off with the husband's dear friend and fellow congregation elder. The culprits were back two days later, very contrite and ready to atone their sin. However repentance was not enough, the culprits had to do their time. They had to humiliate themselves going to meeting for a year and suffer the shunning of friends and family. They had to go through the inquisition of the elders, who would not leave any stone unturned (leave no detail to the imagination)
Adultery hurts the feelings of people, refusal to take blood kills people. This tells me that, since they allow death to happen, JW leaders consider accepting blood even worse than adultery and yet, there seems to be an easier way out for the patient accepting blood than there is for the adulterer. Just show repentance, prove that you were pressured and you are off the hook; the elders appointed by God will forgive your transgresion. But if a lesser trangresion is commited, namely adultery, then you have to serve a much longer and harsher sentence.
Isn't this disproportionate application of punishment to the crime a hint (along with the inconsistency of the blood fractions doctrine) that the leaders of the JW want to get rid of this criminal doctrine of the blood, but they can not find an easy way out.
Your thoughts....
